Barry’s most important role is as a husband to his wife Anita for over 30 years and a father to Lydia, Sophia, and Grace. From a career perspective, Barry graduated from the University of Kentucky and started as a CPA with Deloitte in Cincinnati. In the early 90s, Barry joined Fifth Third Bancorp, serving stints in SEC financial reporting, balance sheet risk management, and as the CFO of the consumer lending division. Following several strategic wealth management acquisitions in the late 90s, Barry became the CFO and Product Manager for the wealth and asset management division of Fifth Third Bancorp where he led the integration of
acquisitions, design and implementation of IT platforms, reorganization of mutual fund products, and the initiation of third-party sales of investment management products. Fifth Third then offered an opportunity to lead a wealth and asset management division in Kentucky. After growing that business significantly over several years, Barry was tapped for an entrepreneurial opportunity to recapitalize and turn around a troubled Kentucky bank, steering it through the challenges of the 2008 banking crisis and resulting recession. Following the successful turnaround and sale of the bank, Barry leaped at the opportunity to partner with some extremely successful long-term friends to found Castellan.
